This post isn’t meant to be morbid, but we realize that it may come across that way. We just wanted to a quick message to all of our human friends on here that have recently lost one (or more) of their furry loved ones. Or that is dealing with sickness and uncertainty of what’s next.

It’s been almost 5 years since we joined @instagram, and we’ve grown up with a lot of you. This community has been with us through triumphs and losses, and health scares too. Between Maya’s torn ACL, moving several times, and work, it’s been harder to do regular check-ins to see how our Instagram friends are doing. But we want you to know that we do care. Of course we do.

We can’t help but notice that all of us are aging — in photos/videos, but in the updates too. There’s more gray fur, more open ended questions about how to heal everything from seizures to tumors and abnormal eating. It feels like every couple of weeks when we scroll through our feed now, #cancer has struck again. We’d be lying if we said that it didn’t scare us, and every single time we want to scream #fuckcancer.

We don’t know most of you personally, but we still feel connected to you. We are so sorry that we haven’t kept as close ties with everyone, and we are so sorry to all of the pet parents on here that are dealing with sickness or loss. We know that loss is a part of life, but it’s never easy. And you can’t really know what to expect until you’re actually going through it.

We wish we could find a more meaningful way to offer support to you during this difficult time, but at the very least we can send you peace, love and light from afar. We hope you know that your loved one is/was so lucky to have you, and that you have them a home. We hope you don’t shut off and stop opening up your heart, because the world needs more open hearts to love and be loved. Please don’t stop exploring or place unnecessary guilt on yourself as you continue to transition into new chapters. Please continue to spread your fur baby’s joy and love for life with others still.
